- Daniel Wins Norfolk U18 Congress 2012
- All the other older players in North Norfolk decided not to enter due to the strength of Daniels play. However, local Cambridge rival Yusef, had entered. Also a lad from Norwich Junior Chess club also entered. The organisers decided everyone to play each other twice. Each game was 20 mins each player.
- Daniel got off to a slow start, playing a relative slow game with blacksagainst Yusef(due to playing U160 county on saturday). With time running out he miscalculated and lost a major piece for a pawn....game over. He won the next two games (plus two byes) to setup a major last game as white against Yusef. This was a very tactical game with Yusef making a minor tactical advange that Daniel worked at. Winning the game with 23 seconds left.
- A 5 minute blitz decider game was played. Daniel now in fast mode didn't look back blasting through as black winning with almost 2 minutes left. A close contest but second year running Daniel has won the U18 open.
